Outdoor Showers for AZ Pool Yards — Why Every Pool Should Have One

Why every pool yard needs one

Pool chemistry stays balanced longer when bathers rinse off sunscreen before entering. Your house stays cleaner. Post-swim you walk inside dry. It's the single highest-value $4K–$8K add to a pool yard.

Hot, cold, or both?

Hot is non-negotiable in AZ winters (Nov–Mar pool water hits 55°F). Run hot + cold from the house water heater with mixing valve at the shower. ~$1,500 extra plumbing vs cold-only.

Materials that survive

Stainless steel fixtures (marine grade), tile or pebble shower floor with floor drain, partial-privacy wall in matching paver or stucco. Don't use chrome-finish indoor fixtures — they pit in AZ in 2 years.

Drainage

Tie to pool deck drain or run a dedicated graywater line to a planted basin. Don't let it sheet across hardscape.
