Glass Pool Fence — Cost, Code, and What to Avoid

Glass fencing is the cleanest pool barrier money can buy — IF it's installed to AZ code. Most aren't.

Glass Pool Fence — Cost, Code, and What to Avoid

Cost

Semi-frameless (with vertical posts): $130–$200/linear foot installed. True frameless (spigot-mounted, no posts): $200–$350/linear foot. Self-closing gate adds $1,500–$3,500.

AZ code basics

  • Minimum 5 ft height above adjacent grade.
  • Glass must be 12 mm tempered laminated minimum.
  • Self-closing, self-latching gate, latch 54"+ off ground, opening away from pool.
  • No horizontal climbable features.
  • Must enclose pool on all 4 sides if house side isn't a barrier.

What goes wrong

Cheap installers skip the engineered footings (it's not a fence post — it's a structural element). One windstorm and panels fail. Always verify: certified installer, engineered drawing, permit pulled.
