How Much Does a Backyard Remodel Cost in Arizona?

Typical ranges we see in 2026

Light refresh (pavers + turf + lighting): $35K–$75K. Mid-tier (add a ramada, fire feature, planting): $75K–$175K. Full custom resort backyard with pool, spa, outdoor kitchen, and structures: $200K–$600K+. These are Phoenix-metro numbers and assume permitted, licensed work with real engineering — not a Craigslist crew.

What actually moves the price

  • Site access — tight gates mean hand-haul, which doubles labor on demo and pavers.
  • Elevation changes — every retaining wall or step adds engineering and block.
  • Pool size and features — tanning ledges, spas, baja steps, glass tile each add line items.
  • Structure type — wood ramada is cheaper than steel, but steel lasts longer in 115° summers.
  • Finish level — travertine vs. concrete pavers, pebble vs. plaster, Pentair vs. base-tier equipment.

Where homeowners save (and where they shouldn't)

Save on: furniture, plant size at install (1-gallons grow fast), decorative boulders. Don't save on: drainage, electrical conduit, equipment-pad sizing, or sub-base under pavers. Those are the failures that cost 3× to fix later.
