Hardware and mounting
Frameless railing structural integrity comes from hardware. We use engineered base shoe, point-fix spigots, or stand-off systems depending on substrate and load.

Cost guidance
Engineered glass railings and guards are priced separately from glass pool fencing — the $225–$325 per linear foot pool-fencing planning range does not apply to them. A railing or guard is quoted from the approved design, elevation and load path, the engineered glass build-up and hardware, the substrate and mounting detail, access, engineering and the signed scope. We provide a written itemized quote after the design walk rather than a published per-foot number.
What glass thickness do you use?+
Glass type, thickness and build-up for a railing or guard are set by the approved engineering, the manufacturer's documentation, and the authority having jurisdiction for that project — there is no universal default. On AE glass fencing, our standard is 1/2-inch tempered safety glass with a permanent temper mark on every installed panel.
Will the railings sag over time?+
A base shoe or post system that is specified and installed to the approved engineering for its span, load and substrate is designed to stay rigid. Movement or deflection is a sign the system, substrate or installation should be evaluated by a qualified professional — stop using the guard if it feels loose and request an inspection.
Can I add railings to an existing patio?+
Often yes — we evaluate substrate, mounting, and the applicable requirements during the design walk, and the approved engineering and authority having jurisdiction control the final detail.
