Where the gate sits, which direction it swings, and how it returns to latch are all design decisions made before fabrication — not after. We walk the yard and review pool access and kid and pet flow first; the customer confirms any association, municipality/AHJ and insurer constraints, and the approved plan controls the final layout.

Child and pet safety considerations
Gate hardware is one layer of protection. No fence, gate or barrier replaces active adult supervision — designate an undistracted adult Water Watcher whenever children are in or near water. Alarms, barrier planning and supervision are complementary layers, and no single layer should be relied on by itself.
Maintenance and adjustment
Check that the gate self-closes and self-latches on the schedule in the installed manufacturer instructions and any time the gate feels different. Adjusting hinge tension or safety hardware is not a homeowner task — request service and we will evaluate and adjust gates that have drifted out of adjustment.
How tall does a pool gate need to be?+

Can the gate swing inward toward the pool?+
Within the scope of A.R.S. §36-1681, gates in the required barrier are described as opening outward, away from the pool. The customer confirms the requirement that applies with the municipality/AHJ, and the approved plan and signed scope control the direction we install.
What if my self-closing hinge stops closing?+
Submit a support request rather than adjusting the hardware yourself. A pool gate that does not self-close and self-latch is a safety issue, not a cosmetic one — restrict pool access and supervise children directly until it is evaluated and serviced.
