A note on the numbers

This isn't a cost. It's an investment.

The figures on this page are real and we don't hide them — that's how AE operates. But we want to be honest about how to read them. Your commercial paver project isn't a line-item expense; it's an investment in your home's value, your family's daily experience, and a space you'll use for the next twenty to thirty years.

When you compare bids, compare what you're investing in — the spec, the crews, the warranty, the company that will still be standing in year ten — not just the price tag. The lowest bid is almost always the most expensive build over time.

Commercial hub

Commercial Pavers Arizona.

The full commercial paver and hardscape spectrum across Arizona — HOA and multifamily, hospitality, office and retail, parking lots and heavy-duty drive lanes, and municipal streetscape. AE bids to CSI-formatted spec, phases around live operations, and delivers submittal packages a GC or owner's rep can hand to the architect.

The honest version: Commercial paver work fails for one of three reasons — under-spec'd base for the actual traffic load, edge restraint that isn't rated for vehicular loads, or a bid team that treats commercial like a bigger residential job. AE's commercial division writes the assembly for the load, uses vehicular-rated restraint where vehicles run, and phases the schedule so the property never stops. The base spec is 3–4" ABC pedestrian, 6–8" ABC light-vehicle, 8–12" open-graded for parking and fire lanes — 1" sand bed, polymeric joint sand, never quarter minus.

FAQ

Common questions.

The full commercial hardscape spectrum across Arizona — HOA and multifamily common areas, hospitality (hotels, restaurants, event venues), office and retail plazas, parking lots and drive lanes (including heavy-duty and permeable), and municipal / institutional streetscape, church, and school work. Residential design-build is our roots; commercial is a formal division with its own bid, insurance, and phasing workflow.

Yes. AE provides a spec-language paver package — CSI-formatted section language for the paver system (base, bedding, unit type/thickness, joint sand, edge restraint, sealing), submittal package (manufacturer data, warranty, installer qualifications), and shop drawings for pattern and drainage. Owners' reps and GCs can plug it into an RFP.

Depth changes with load. Patios and pedestrian plazas run 3–4" compacted ABC. Drive lanes and light-vehicle traffic run 6–8" ABC. Parking-lot and fire-lane installs run 8–12" open-graded base with geotextile separation. Bedding is 1" — always. Polymeric joint sand — always. Quarter minus is never used under pavers.

Yes. Multifamily walkways, hotel entries, and retail plazas get phased demo and install so residents, guests, and customers keep moving. Off-hours work, temporary walk paths, dust control, and coordinated barricades. Property manager or GC gets the phase schedule with the bid.

AE 2-year workmanship warranty on the install (settlement, edge failure, joint sand blowout under normal use), plus the paver manufacturer's structural warranty (typically 25 years to lifetime on concrete paver units). Sealant warranty tracks the sealant manufacturer. All warranty docs registered and delivered at closeout.

David Bell is current President of the Southwest Hardscapes Association — 13 years on the board, 15 years involved. On commercial bids that means the paver spec, base assembly, and drainage detail are written by the person who chairs the region's hardscape trade body, not delegated to a subcontractor.

Bid your commercial paver project.

Send site plan, RFP, or walk request. AE returns a spec-language commercial bid — base assembly by zone, drainage, warranty, phasing — in 5–10 business days.
