Actual AE ProjectA family with young kids wanted a pool small enough to keep cool, a real lawn area without the water bill, and a yard that worked from breakfast to bedtime without constant upkeep.
Verrado's tight lot lines, shared walls, and Design Review Committee submittals. Equipment placement, drainage, and the turf-vs-paver split had to be planned around the home's existing footprint.
We designed a plunge pool sized for the courtyard, framed by paver decking that flows to a turf play area. Lighting was layered low-glare so the space stays warm at night without spilling over the fence.
Sized for the lot — easier to heat, cool, and maintain than an oversized build.
Hardscape near the home, turf play zone at the back of the yard.
Slope away from the foundation; channel drains where needed.
Cool-fill infill, real drainage base — not a roll-out lawn.
Designed to respect neighbors and HOA expectations.
A smaller pool with a properly designed yard around it almost always beats a bigger pool jammed onto the same lot. The decision to right-size the pool freed up budget for the deck, turf, and lighting that actually get used every day.
