  • Themed or custom-shaped features add design and fabrication time.

  • Fresh-flow / drain-to-waste: lower upfront, sends used water to a designed drainage point, simpler equipment.
  • Recirculating: collects water in an underground tank and returns it through a pump, filter, and sanitation device. Higher upfront, can reduce ongoing water use.
  • Actual water use and operating cost vary by system design, run time, evaporation, splash-out, and top-off.

  • Poured rubber, rubberized coatings, textured concrete, pavers, and stone each have different material and labor costs.
  • The surface must drain and be selected for the project; 'slip-resistant' describes a material characteristic, not a guarantee that a wet surface is safe.
  • Custom colors, inlays, or themed shapes add cost over a standard finish.
  • Arizona sun and hard water are hard on coatings — material choice affects lifespan and recoat cycles.
