A note on the numbers

This isn't a cost. It's an investment.

The figures on this page are real and we don't hide them — that's how AE operates. But we want to be honest about how to read them. Your dog daycare or boarding turf project isn't a line-item expense; it's an investment in your home's value, your family's daily experience, and a space you'll use for the next twenty to thirty years.

When you compare bids, compare what you're investing in — the spec, the crews, the warranty, the company that will still be standing in year ten — not just the price tag. The lowest bid is almost always the most expensive build over time.

Dog Daycare & Boarding

Dog Daycare & Boarding Turf Arizona.

Daycare-volume pet turf across Arizona — dog daycare, boarding, veterinary hospitals, grooming outdoor runs, dog park operators, and off-leash park operators. Engineered drainage, antimicrobial infill, urine-rated backing, and a cleaning protocol that actually works at scale.

The honest version: Daycare turf is the hardest commercial pet-turf environment there is. Forty dogs, continuous urine load, aggressive play, daily rinse-downs, and Arizona sun. Residential pet-run spec dies inside 18 months. Our commercial daycare spec is over-built by design — heavier face weight, urine-rated backing, engineered drainage under the whole footprint, antimicrobial infill throughout. We'd rather over-spec than warranty-repair a failing yard.
01

Who this is for

  • Dog daycare operators — standalone and in-home commercial.
  • Boarding kennels and dog resorts.
  • Veterinary hospitals with outdoor runs.
  • Grooming operations with outdoor space.
  • Dog park operators — public, HOA, and private.
  • Cat cafes and adoption facilities with outdoor space.
02

Daycare-grade spec

  • Open-bottom drainage base or engineered deep-drainage aggregate — urine flushes through, not into infill.
  • Antimicrobial infill (Envirofill or T-Cool) throughout.
  • Urine-rated turf backing (perforated + fully drainable).
  • Heavier face weight so blades don't lay over with continuous traffic.
  • Seams glued with pet-rated seam tape, grain-matched.
  • Perimeter secured with hidden nailer or paver-band — no exposed edges dogs can dig at.
  • Cleaning access, hose bib coordination, and deodorizer top-dress ports designed in.

AE Pet Turf Infiltration System

For daycare and boarding projects where site conditions allow, we install our AE Pet Turf Infiltration System — an open-bottom base that lets urine and rinse water infiltrate directly into engineered sub-grade rather than pooling in the infill. Full spec at /ae-pet-turf-infiltration-system.

04

Cleaning & maintenance protocol

  • Daily: hose down high-traffic zones after peak hours.
  • Weekly: enzyme cleaner + rinse across full footprint.
  • Monthly: deodorizer top-dress broomed in.
  • Quarterly: infill top-off in wear zones as needed.
  • Annually: professional deep-clean walk-through with AE service.
05

Owner deliverables

  • Line-itemed proposal with spec, drainage, cleaning protocol, warranty.
  • COI issued before mobilization.
  • Written cleaning schedule staff can be trained against.
  • 2-year AE workmanship warranty + 8–12 year manufacturer material warranty (daycare-rated).
  • Ongoing AE service program available.
FAQ

Common questions.

Three things: drainage is engineered rather than assumed (usually an open-bottom base or dedicated drainage system), infill is antimicrobial and heavier so it doesn't blow out with 40 dogs on it, and the turf backing has to be rated for continuous urine exposure. Residential pet-run spec fails within a year in a daycare-volume environment.

Odor control is a system, not a product. Open-bottom or deep-drainage base lets urine flush through instead of pooling in the infill. Antimicrobial infill (Envirofill / T-Cool) resists bacterial growth. Cleaning protocol — daily rinse, weekly deep-clean, monthly deodorizer top-dress — is written into the closeout guide. Together they solve it; individually they don't.

Yes when the site allows for it. Our open-bottom pet-turf infiltration system is designed exactly for the volume of urine a daycare or boarding facility generates. See /ae-pet-turf-infiltration-system for the full spec.

Correctly-spec'd daycare turf — heavier face weight, urine-rated backing, antimicrobial infill, engineered drainage — typically holds warranty performance for 8–12 years even under continuous traffic. The wrong spec, we've seen die inside 18 months.

Yes. Standalone daycare/boarding, veterinary hospitals with outdoor runs, kennels attached to grooming operations, and dog park operators. Coordinated with GC or owner-built.

Why this is an investment, not a cost.

An AE backyard is engineered to add daily livability and long-term home value. We publish honest ranges and build to code with a licensed and bonded Arizona crew. AE provides project-specific workmanship and manufacturer-warranty information in the signed agreement. Website summaries are for planning only.

Most Arizona contracting work valued at $1,000 or more — or requiring a permit — must be performed by a properly licensed contractor, subject to statutory exemptions. Verify the legal entity, license status, and classification with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
  • Real ranges, itemized scope. You see materials, finishes, equipment models, and a line-item budget before you sign — not a one-line "pool — $90,000."
