A note on the numbers

This isn't a cost. It's an investment.

The figures on this page are real and we don't hide them — that's how AE operates. But we want to be honest about how to read them. Your playground turf project isn't a line-item expense; it's an investment in your home's value, your family's daily experience, and a space you'll use for the next twenty to thirty years.

When you compare bids, compare what you're investing in — the spec, the crews, the warranty, the company that will still be standing in year ten — not just the price tag. The lowest bid is almost always the most expensive build over time.

Playgrounds & Tot-Lots

Playground Artificial Turf Arizona.

Fall-height-rated playground turf across Arizona — schools, daycares, HOAs, municipalities, apartment tot-lots, and church campuses. Every install is documented to ASTM F1292 (impact attenuation) and, where the owner requires, ASTM F1951 for ADA accessibility to play equipment.

The honest version: Playground turf's job is safety, not aesthetics — and the rated fall-height is only as real as the pad depth installed under it. We've seen 'certified' installs where the pad was 1" thinner than the sample and the fall-height dropped by two feet. AE installs the pad you paid for and documents the depth per zone in your closeout package. That documentation is what protects the school, the HOA, or the municipality.

FAQ

Common questions.

Yes. AE installs playground turf systems certified to ASTM F1292 (impact attenuation / fall-height) and F1951 (accessibility per ADA). The rated fall-height depends on pad thickness and turf/infill combination — we document the installed fall-height per zone in the closeout.

Most residential and community tot-lots spec to 4–6 feet. Public playgrounds and school installs commonly spec to 8–10 feet. Adventure play equipment may require 10–12 feet. AE selects the pad system against the tallest fall-height on the specified equipment and documents it.

Yes when specified. AE installs turf systems that meet ASTM F1951 firmness/stability requirements for wheelchair access to play equipment. This is written into the proposal and documented on turnover.

Playgrounds typically use engineered acrylic-coated sand or specialized loose-fill infills designed to hold fall-height rating. We avoid crumb rubber on playgrounds unless the owner specifically requests it and understands the trade-offs. Infill selection is written into the proposal.

Cooler-fired blades and lighter-color infill reduce surface temperature meaningfully compared to standard turf. Full mitigation on a fully sun-exposed Arizona playground still comes down to shade sails — we can coordinate shade structure spec with the owner or GC.
