A note on the numbers

This isn't a cost. It's an investment.

The figures on this page are real and we don't hide them — that's how AE operates. But we want to be honest about how to read them. Your pool deck isn't a line-item expense; it's an investment in your home's value, your family's daily experience, and a space you'll use for the next twenty to thirty years.

When you compare bids, compare what you're investing in — the spec, the crews, the warranty, the company that will still be standing in year ten — not just the price tag. The lowest bid is almost always the most expensive build over time.

Cost Guide

Pool Deck Cost in Arizona — 2026.

Real Phoenix-metro pricing for pool deck replacement and new construction — concrete, travertine, concrete pavers, and large-format porcelain. Plus coping, demo, and drainage scope broken out so the number isn't a surprise.

The honest version: Pool decks are the single most-touched surface in an Arizona backyard — barefoot, every weekend, six months a year. Cheap stamped concrete fades in three summers and gets hot enough to blister feet. Travertine and large-format porcelain pavers stay 15–25°F cooler, don't fade, and let us replace a single piece if anything ever damages. Spend the money on the deck and the coping; nothing else around the pool gets touched as much.

Educational estimate, not a quote. Ranges shown are Arizona-market planning estimates. Final pricing depends on site access, size, materials, engineering, drainage, utilities, permits, equipment access, existing conditions, and final scope. Binding pricing is only valid in a written proposal signed by an AE representative.

01

  • Travertine pavers (French pattern, AE default): $18 – $26 per sq ft
  • Large-format porcelain pavers: $22 – $32 per sq ft
  • Flagstone or natural stone (irregular): $20 – $30 per sq ft
02

Coping (priced per linear foot installed)

  • Concrete coping (pre-cast or poured-in-place): $35 – $55 per lf
  • Travertine coping (bull-nose or chiseled edge): $55 – $85 per lf
  • Large-format porcelain coping: $65 – $95 per lf
  • Natural stone coping (granite, limestone): $75 – $120 per lf
03

Typical pool deck totals (deck + coping)

  • Small pool deck (450–650 sq ft, 70 lf coping): $11,500 – $28,000
  • Standard pool deck (700–1,000 sq ft, 90 lf coping): $16,500 – $42,000
  • Large pool / spa / spillover (1,200–1,800 sq ft, 130 lf coping): $26,000 – $72,000
04

Demo and prep (added to material price)

  • Tear-out and haul-off of existing concrete deck: $3 – $6 per sq ft
  • Tear-out of existing pavers (no base re-use): $1.50 – $3 per sq ft
  • Coping removal and bond-beam prep: $25 – $50 per lf
  • Deck drains and re-slope for proper drainage: $850 – $3,500
  • ABC base build-up for soft soil or raised deck: $1.50 – $3 per sq ft
05

What's included in AE's per-project price

  • Site survey, laser grade for proper slope away from pool and house.
  • Demo of existing deck and coping with haul-off.
  • Bond-beam prep and tile-line protection during coping work.
  • 2–3" compacted ABC base for paver decks (1" sand bed always, polymeric joint sand always).
  • Coping bedded in mortar to bond beam with proper expansion joints.
  • Deck drains tied into existing drainage where present.
  • Cleanup, pool clean of construction debris, and 2-year AE workmanship warranty.
06

What drives the price up

  • Travertine or porcelain over concrete / stamped (real material difference).
  • Coping replacement (especially natural stone or porcelain).
  • Deck drains, French drains, or re-grading for drainage.
  • Raised deck or spillover wall integration.
  • Larger deck footprint with custom cuts around spa, planters, or fire features.
07

What drives the price down

  • Cool-deck overlay on sound concrete (cosmetic refresh, not a real upgrade).
  • Reusing sound coping with just deck replacement (often false economy — coping ages with the deck).
  • Standard travertine French pattern over premium large-format porcelain.
  • Bundling deck with resurfacing, equipment upgrade, or full pool remodel (one mobilization, one project).
