A note on the numbers

This isn't a cost. It's an investment.

The figures on this page are real and we don't hide them — that's how AE operates. But we want to be honest about how to read them. Your Phoenix outdoor fireplace isn't a line-item expense; it's an investment in your home's value, your family's daily experience, and a space you'll use for the next twenty to thirty years.

When you compare bids, compare what you're investing in — the spec, the crews, the warranty, the company that will still be standing in year ten — not just the price tag. The lowest bid is almost always the most expensive build over time.

Outdoor fireplaces in Phoenix, built to anchor the outdoor room.

AE Outdoor Living designs and builds outdoor fireplaces across the Phoenix metro — prefab gas units with stone veneer, custom masonry gas builds, and full wood-burning fireplaces with proper chimneys. Every install includes the gas line, permit, footing engineering, and finish stone. No subcontracted masonry — our own crews.

The honest version: Gas is the right call for 90% of Phoenix backyards. It lights instantly on a November evening, it doesn't shut off during summer fire restrictions, and there's no ash tray to empty. Wood-burning is beautiful but the chimney height and clearance rules eliminate most Phoenix lots before we even start drawings. We tell clients that upfront so they don't fall in love with something the code won't allow.
01

What we build

  • Prefab gas fireplaces (Firegear, Fire by Design) with masonry surround.
  • Custom masonry gas fireplaces — block core, veneer, hearth, mantel.
  • Wood-burning masonry with engineered chimney and spark arrestor.
  • Two-sided see-through fireplaces separating patio zones.
  • Fireplace + built-in bench or hearth seating combinations.
02

Phoenix outdoor fireplace pricing

  • Prefab gas with stone veneer surround: $6,500–$14,000.
  • Custom masonry gas (footing, block, veneer, hearth): $18,000–$45,000.
  • Wood-burning masonry with full chimney: $22,000–$60,000+.
  • Gas line extension, permits, and finish stone all line-itemed.
03

Permits and code

  • Gas line extension over 10 ft — mechanical permit required.
  • Masonry over 4 ft tall — structural permit and footing inspection.
  • Any wood-burning fireplace — chimney height, spark arrestor, clearance sign-off.
  • AE pulls every permit and hands you the permit number.
04

Placement and design

Fireplaces face away from the summer southwest wind, sit 10+ ft off any combustible structure, and tie into the patio footing so seasonal soil movement doesn't crack the veneer. Our designers site the fireplace during the initial walk before drawings start.

Why this is an investment, not a cost.

An AE backyard is engineered to add daily livability and long-term home value. We publish honest ranges and build to code with a licensed and bonded Arizona crew. AE provides project-specific workmanship and manufacturer-warranty information in the signed agreement. Website summaries are for planning only.

  • Licensed, bonded & insured in Arizona. ROC 340966 (R-62) · ROC 341002 (R-3) · ROC 347738 (KA-5) · ROC 211530 (CR-21). Most Arizona contracting work valued at $1,000 or more — or requiring a permit — must be performed by a properly licensed contractor, subject to statutory exemptions. Verify the legal entity, license status, and classification with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
  • Real ranges, itemized scope. You see materials, finishes, equipment models, and a line-item budget before you sign — not a one-line "pool — $90,000."
