A note on the numbers

This isn't a cost. It's an investment.

The figures on this page are real and we don't hide them — that's how AE operates. But we want to be honest about how to read them. Your pools & spas project isn't a line-item expense; it's an investment in your home's value, your family's daily experience, and a space you'll use for the next twenty to thirty years.

When you compare bids, compare what you're investing in — the spec, the crews, the warranty, the company that will still be standing in year ten — not just the price tag. The lowest bid is almost always the most expensive build over time.

Glass pool fences in Phoenix: cost, code, and what to spec

Glass pool fencing keeps sightlines open while being planned around Arizona pool-barrier requirements. AE builds glass fencing under our Sonoran Glass brand — here's what it costs and what to spec.

The honest version: Installed glass fencing generally ranges from $225–$325 per linear foot in the Phoenix metro. Specialty glass systems, gates, upgraded glass and custom hardware are quoted separately after the layout and specifications are confirmed. Barrier requirements come from ARS §36-1681 within its scope plus local ordinances, and the property owner confirms them with the municipality/AHJ and, where relevant, HOA and insurer before the scope is approved. No barrier replaces active adult supervision.

Educational estimate, not a quote. Ranges shown are Arizona-market planning estimates. Final pricing depends on site access, size, materials, engineering, drainage, utilities, permits, equipment access, existing conditions, and final scope. Binding pricing is only valid in a written proposal signed by an AE representative.

Budget to the high end. Use the top of every range on this page as your working number. The low end assumes easy access, sound existing conditions, and standard selections — real Arizona projects often carry demolition, drainage or grading work, upgraded materials, or conditions found once work starts. If the top of the range still fits your plan, the project fits your budget. Ranges are planning guidance, not a quote; the signed scope controls.

Arizona pool barrier planning (ARS §36-1681 scope)

  • For pools within the statute's scope, ARS §36-1681 describes an enclosure at least five feet high, with a limited four-foot alternative under stated conditions.
  • The statute addresses climbable features, opening sizes, bottom clearance and self-closing, self-latching gates opening away from the pool.
  • Local ordinances, project classification, existing conditions and the AHJ control the final requirement; the property owner confirms them, along with HOA and insurer requirements where relevant.
  • Permit and inspection responsibilities vary by jurisdiction and project and are defined in the written scope. Read the statute at https://www.azleg.gov/ars/36/01681.htm.

Hardware and glass spec

  • 1/2-inch tempered safety glass on every Sonoran Glass fence, with a permanent temper mark on each installed panel.
  • Duplex 2205 stainless core-mount spigots are AE's fence standard; bolt-down/surface-mount is used only when necessary and supported by the approved detail.
  • AE primarily uses PRL glass and Polaris hardware; final models, availability and manufacturer warranty terms are named in the written scope.
  • AE workmanship warranty plus the manufacturer's product warranty on the terms stated in those documents.
FAQ

Common questions.

Glass is commonly used as a barrier material in Arizona when the system is configured to the applicable requirements — height, gate operation, openings and clearances. The applicable requirements are confirmed with the municipality/AHJ, and AE installs to the approved written scope.

Each system is evaluated against the same applicable barrier requirements. Glass adds sightlines, which makes supervision easier — but no barrier replaces an undistracted adult watching children in and around water.

Tempered glass is UV-stable. Stainless hardware is specified for pool-chemistry exposure, and the models used are named in the written scope. Service life depends on the installed hardware, water chemistry, exposure and routine cleaning.
